Martin Wedding ~ Lovell, WY

October 15, 2012

The Martin wedding was a very special wedding to many people.
Originally, I was not the photographer booked to photograph Lance and Chelsea’s wedding day. My good friend Katie Cummings was scheduled to photograph this wedding and had already been working with the couple for quite some time, shooting the engagement session, designing the invitations, etc. Katie passed away this summer, at such a young age, such a wonderful woman and photographer who is missed so much by her family and friends. Words cannot express the feelings and thoughts that went through my mind when hearing of this horrible news. Katie was such an amazing photographer and it’s no wonder why Chelsea and Lance booked her for their wedding.
About a couple months before the wedding Chelsea contacted me about photographing their wedding, desperately trying to find a photographer who was available for their day.

Lance and Chelsea’s wedding was country style and classy complete with an antler alter (say that ten times as fast as you can) and boots filled with grass lining the isle. This was definitely my kind of wedding!
The whole event was held at Chelsea’s parent’s place just outside of Lovell and was just the perfect setting for everything. Although it was a little stressful with me constantly asking myself, “How would Katie have photographed this?”, I could not have asked for a better couple, wedding party, family, and assistant to work with during this gorgeous day!

Another huge thank you to Lance of Sorenson Photography for making the trek to Wyoming with me and for second shooting the wedding with me!

There is a little story behind this next photo that will help you understand what is going on.
Lance and I had this idea that we would place the bride and groom in the middle of this corn field and I would photograph them from above.
We were trying to decide just how to get the couple out in the middle when Glade, the best man, decided to go into the corn rows.
These photos are showing him coming out of the field covered in dirt, webs, etc…whatever was in there. And this made out decision to not take the couple into the field.
Advice to portraits photographers: photographing portraits in a corn field may be a bad idea! haha
