Horses have always charmed me. The way they act, the way they move, the look in their eyes…there’s just something about them.
For the past couple mornings I have been photographing this large herd of horses in hopes to capture the beauty I see during the sunrise.
At first there was a small group of them that took notice as soon as I started clicking away the first morning. They surrounded me, followed me, and were just plain curious as to what I was doing. That was definitely a fantastic opportunity to make detailed images of the horses.
After a while they took no notice of me and went on their ways eating into the sunrise.
The most curious of them all was the smallest colt who made sure he stuck close by his mother. As I walked closer he started walking closer. So I crouched down to be at eye level with him and he came right up to me, fearless and innocent, just staring at me. In the moment it was just I and the colt, completely peaceful.
I walked away that morning completely satisfied with the images I had made.
Now, the next morning was a completely different story. One of the horses from the day before had been a little feisty but nothing too bad. This time he was on the prowl ever time I turned around, picking on a couple of the others. This became one of my dreams turning into reality. I have always wanted to make images like this and never I thought I’d get them with this herd.
I can’t wait to photograph them again before they are hauled back to their home.
I love these photos!! Do you sell them? Soooo great!
