When I hired Shanna to travel with me to document work I was doing in Southeast Asia, I knew she would be good, but I didn’t realize how great an experience it would be.
She showed up with a backpack that included a handful of clothes and a lot of camera gear. Despite having the most equipment to bring with her, Shanna traveled the lightest of our entire group.
We spent over two weeks together, traveling through densely packed cities, crowded slums, and two track roads that took us deep into the jungle to visit remote villages. And she captured it all, making all the curious children we met smile along the way.
She was always up for adventure - whether that was hanging onto the back of a truck as it bumped deep into the jungles of Thailand or trying the local cuisine - a salad with roasted ants as a topper!
She was professional, fun, easy going, and a delight to be with. I could trust her to capture every special moment whether it was on video or film. The images from that trip remain some of my favorite, even a decade later.
With luck, life will bring another opportunity for us to go together again, and if it does, I’ll look forward to it with great anticipation.
